Pothos is a low-maintenance indoor plant, but curling leaves may indicate problems like Overwatering, underwatering, pests etc.

One of the most beautiful and easiest indoor plant is Pothos. This plant needs low maintenance and any weather conditions. If you are a little careless about the plant, its leaves can become curly, which indicates the plant is not healthy and needs more care.

It can cause by different factors including too much water, too little water, temperature changes etc. If you notice that leaves are curling don’t worry. This does not mean that your plant will not live long, there are some problems that you need to fix it.

Overwatering Can curling your Plants leaves

Overwatering is the main reason of Pothos leaves curling. Water is added to the soil when the plant is already waterlogged. The roots will rot and Pothos roots can’t survive for long in saturated soil. If your plant’s roots begin to rot, the water and nutrients needed by the plant to survive will not reach the plant’s leaves. This causes the leaves to shrivel up to retain water.

To avoid these problems, you should place the pothos plant in a place where the drainage hole will be good so that even if you overwater, the excess water will escape through that hole.

Some time leaves curling because of Underwatering

Another problem is underwatering, it can causes of curling leaves. This plant needs water when the soil is dry. But soil is very dry then underwatering is likely the problem. Keep in mind that if water is not given for a long time, the roots of the plant will dry up. So understanding the under-watering problem, if you water it every day, the problem will not be solved.

To avoid this problem, water the plants for several hours so that they do not curl, try checking the roots to ensure they are still healthy.

Pests is another reason for leaves curling

Plant lesions occur when pests such as aphids and spider mites attack your plants. This causes the leaves to curl so you need to separate your pothos from other plants as soon as possible or those plants will be affected. To avoid this, wipe the affected leaves thoroughly with a soft cloth with neem oil to prevent them from being attacked by the insect.

Insufficient light curling your plants leaves

However, if your pothos leaves are curling ,reaching in the direction of the light, it is a sign that your pothos leaves are not exposed to enough natural light. Then it should be placed next to the window where the plant can get what it needs. If you get more light then you have to move from that place to a place that gets less light.

Some time Temperature changes

The ideal temperature of Pothos is between 60-85°F. If your room temperature is higher than this, the leaves will curl. The placement of your plant plays a key role in its exposure to heat. To avoid the placing your plant in direct sunlight.

Too much fertiliser

Excessive fertiliser is toxic to the root damage and also leaves curling. Remember to avoid fertilizing in winter. During the growing season like Spring and Summer, feed your plant every 2 to 3 weeks with a water soluble balanced fertilizer diluted to half strength.
