Ficus lyrata, commonly known as the fiddle leaf fig is a species of flowering plant in the mulberry and fig family moraceae. This plant is looks like as an umbrella plant which has large, dark green leaves that are similar in shape to the plant. The plant is a small tropical tree and broadleaf evergreen, commonly grown and popular as a houseplant in many areas of the United States. As a houseplant, it will grow 2 to 10 feet tall. It has large, board ,lyre shaped, green leaves that can measure upto 18 inchs long.

Lyrata should thrive in an indoor setting. Ofcourse, temperature,water and nutrition are vital factors to maintain a lush plant, without access to adequate sunlight,the plant will not thrive. Simply ,the fiddle leaf fig is a stunning indoor plant as long as it is provided the proper care and sunlight.

It prefer to dry out slightly between waterings and while they take a good deal of water to keep healthy, soggy soil will drown the Fiddle Leaf Fig plant. If your leaves start to brown and fall and the soil is moist, let the plant dry out until the soil becomes completely dry.

Light

This plant is require bright, filtered light to grow and look their best. Direct sunlight can burn the leaves, especially exposure to hot afternoon sun. Plants that are kept in very low light conditions will fail to grow rapidly. It doesn’t need any direct sunlight if it’s getting enough bright indirect light. But it if can get some direct sunlight,it will appreciate it. If it gets about 4-6 hours of direct sunlight, it will do even better.

Water

To keep water your plant the same amount each week. For plants that the top few inchs of soil have dried, the easiest way to tell if your plant needs water is to look at the leaves. If the leaves are not rigid and upright and they start to look floppy. This plant prefers to high salt levels in the soil. Soil

Just as a human cannot live without water, plants cannot live without soil. So this plant needs common soil for the article will helps you . It’s need weel draining potting media that’s high in organic matter. A peat based soil with some perlite works great. This is standard fare for most indoor potting mixes with good reason. The potting mix ideally should have peat moss, sand, coco coir, perlite and other components in equal portions. Temperature & humidity

This tropical plants are prefer warm temperatures at 65°- 85° fahrenheit and avoid letting temperatures drop below 60° fahrenheit. If you have outdoor fiddles, you will need to bring them in at night once temperatures drop.

The ideal humidity for a plant is between 30% to 65%. If you live in a very dry climate, you may need to supplement your plant with extra humidity by misting it or providing a humidifier. Avoid placing your plant indoors near a heater vent, which can dry out your plant. High humidity is not going to hurt them,though they masu become more susceptible to infection on their leaves like fungus.

Fertilizer

Apply plant fertilizer once a month from spring to full and quarterly from fall to Spring. For proper care, lightly water with lukewarm temperature through the week to keep the pot from getting dry. Plant fertilizers are distinguished by their NPK ratio, the percentage the product contains of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. The best time to prune your plant is in the Spring when there will be plenty of light to fuel recovery and new growth. Try to prune in the Spring or early Summer. You will want to get a sharp pair of pruning shears because scissors can crush the stems and damage your plant.

This plant should be placed infront of a window that will receive direct morning or afternoon light. Ideally, what you are aiming for is a window with mostly unobstructed eastern, western or southern exposure.
