Light
This plant prefers bright, direct sunlight for at least 6 hours a day. The ideal place them directly in a South or West-facing window. It thrives in a full sun environment. Choose a spot in your home where it will receive ample light throughout the day. Avoid high-noon sun, which can scorch the plant’s leaves.
Water

Desert Rose plants are drought-tolerant and prefer to dry out completely between waterings. Plant your desert rose in a container that has ample drainage holes. The desert rose can be susceptible to rot if it becomes too moist.During the growing season, keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. In winter, reduce watering significantly as the plant goes into dormancy.
Soil
Desert Rose plant needs well draining soil mix such as a mix of cactus potting mix with added perlite or coarse sand is ideal. This plant is acclimated to naturally dry and desert-like conditions. Slightly acidic can help your desert rose thrive and produce its beautiful, succulent-like blooms.
Temperature & humidity
This plant prefers warm temperature ideally between 65-80 degree Fahrenheit. They are not frost-tolerant and should be protected from temperatures below 50°F. It will not likely survive any prolonged frost outdoors.
It moderate to low humidity the ideally between 40% and 50% relative humidity. High humidity can cause issues like root rot and other fungal diseases.
Fertiliser
During the growing season feed your plant with slow release fertiliser. Proper nutrition will help boost the chances of your plant flowering. It needs a balanced fertilizer that contains equal parts of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, like most plants.

Desert Rose plant can be propagate by stem cutting. Spring and summer are the best times for propagation, whether from seeds or cuttings. Divide plants that have grown in the garden for at least two years.
- Select a stem with at least two pairs of leaves and cut it cleanly with a sharp tool.
- Cuttings at least 6 inches long are ideal for rooting succulent stems. Sort through the shoots after pruning the plant and select the best ones.
- Allow the cutting to dry out for a day. Wet the cut end and dip it in rooting hormone.
- Plant the cut end into well draining growing medium like perlite or sand mixed with potting soil.
- After few weeks, you should notice new growth of your Desert Rose plant.

Repotting is very important to extend the lifespan of Desert Rose plants and keep them healthy. Carefully remove the plant from its pot, loosen the roots, and clean away old soil. Remove the plant from its old pot and can also create your own mix by combining coarse sand, perlite, and potting soil.
Some Common problem of Desert Rose Plant

- The most common problem is pest infection and other pests will help you catch problems early. It can lead to complete discoloration.
- The sign of overwatering that means the roots can’t get enough oxygen when the soil is waterlogged. This is the most serious consequence of overwatering and is characterized by black or brown, mushy roots.
