1. White Bird of Paradise ( Strelitzia nicolai )

In the types of bird of paradise plant Strelitzia nicolai is commonly known as the wild banana or giant white bird of paradise . It is a species of banana-like plants with erect woody stems reaching a height of 7–8 m. They prefers southern light exposure, proper humidity, and temperature.

It is the rarest of the three large banana-like Strelitzia species occurring in Southern Africa. Avoid placing it in spaces with low light or spaces without natural sunlight. Overwatering and poor drainage are the usual culprits so remove the plant from its pot and trim any affected roots.

Strelitzia is a genus of five species of perennial plants, native to South Africa. It belongs to the plant family Strelitziaceae. A common name of the genus is bird of paradise plant. It grow in sub tropical and sub temperature conditions.

These conditions can be observed in the Himachal Pradesh, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Bengal.The color’s brightness symbolizes hope, positivity, and the promise of a sunny future, enhancing the bird of paradise flower meanings associated with happiness and fulfillment.

3. Mexican Bird of Paradise (Caesalpinia mexicana)

One of my favourite types of birds of paradise plants, Caesalpinia pulcherrima is a species of flowering plant in the pea family Fabaceae, native to the tropics and subtropics of the Americas. It is a fast grower and can get to 10-15 feet tall and spreads to 8-10 feet wide.

Mexican bird of paradise is native to northeastern Mexico near the Rio Grande. This plant makes a fine specimen, it can grow in a container which works well. This plant is drought tolerant, thriving well-draining soil.

4. Red Bird of Paradise (Caesalpinia pulcherrima)

The red bird-of-paradise, also known as the cendrawasih merah, is predominantly found in the lowland rainforests of Waigeo and Batanta islands of Raja Ampat, West Papua. It is classified under the genus Paradisaea within the family Paradisaeidae.

Its exotic appearance and vivid colors symbolize attraction, charm, and the allure of fame. The flower meanings encompasses beauty and sophistication, making it a popular choice in ornamental displays and art.

5. Yellow Bird of Paradise (Caesalpinia gilliesii)

A yellow bird of paradise flower conveys joy, optimism, and good fortune. Sometime this types of bird of paradise plant, colour’s brightness symbolizes hope, positivity. This plant gets your Paradise plant at least 4-6 hours of bright light every day to ensure optimal growth.

It is an upright, fast growing shrub originating from Argentina and Uruguay. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. Keep the soil evenly moist, but not overly saturated. This plant leaves are open because a number of factors including lack of light humidity.

Light

all Types of Bird of Paradise Plant prefer bright direct light and placed to south facing window. You will want to keep your plant in lots of bright light, as they will not thrive in lower light levels without adequate sunlight. It can tolerate direct sunlight and can even survive outside during the summer months.

Water

Water your bird of paradise plant every 1-2 weeks, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. It needs 0.8 cups of water every 9 days. If your plant is not getting enough light, it may be suffering from overwatering.

Proper drainage is important for long term to root healthy and aeration stone can absorb excess water to ensure your roots are never in standing water.

Soil

All Plant prefer well-draining soil, which promotes healthy root development and ensures sufficient aeration. A mix of peat moss, perlite, and garden soil creates an ideal medium that retains enough moisture for the roots while allowing excess water to escape. This plant grows best in loamy soil with a pH of 5.5 to 7.5.

Temperature & humidity

all Types of Bird of Paradise Plant maintaining a temperature range between 65-80°F. Keep your plant away from cold drafts from open doors or windows. It’s best not to let it go below 60°F.
