Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water, as this can cause root rot. The Dieffenbachia “Delilah” has a straight, thick stem with large, wide leaves arching from it, so it can take up a good amount of space once it’s fully matured. While a very common household plant, we don’t recommend placing a Dieffenbachia plant in your bedroom. It’s easy to care for and can fill out an empty space in your bedroom, but it’s sap contains crystals that can irritate mucous membranes and it can be toxic to both humans and pets. It is best grown as an indoor plant in bright, indirect sunlight. Plant it in fertile, well-drained potting soil with a high peat content.

Pruning the plant also keeps it from getting too ‘top heavy’ due to leaf growth. Avoid direct sunlight which can burn the leaves. Water your Dieffenbachia when the soil volume is 50-75% dry. It’s an absolutely gorgeously stylish indoor plant – and it brings to your home the style of a similar plant such as variegated Monstera while being a little easier to care for – it doesn’t require such constant humidity. This tropical plants prefer water only when the top couple of inches of the soil is dry, don’t let it sit in water. Poisoning can occur if you eat or are exposed to the leaves, stalk, or root of this plant.

Dieffenbachia is a tropical plant that grows well indoors in lots of indirect light. It can tolerate low light, but its growth will slow dramatically.A bright leafed foliage plant. Great for indoors or shady areas where most plants won’t grow. Very good for pots, generally 50 to 100 cm tall but can get up to 2 or 2,5 meters. It prefers its soil to be consistently moist, but not waterlogged. I water mine when the top inch of soil feels dry, which is usually every week or so. Over-watering can lead to root rot, so it’s crucial to ensure good drainage.

15. Dieffenbachia Panther

Credit

Dieffenbachias do best when they are kept on a consistent watering schedule. Water about every 10 days or when the top inch of soil dries out, no more, no less. These plants do not like their soil to dry out, nor do they like their feet to stay wet. Dieffenbachia ‘Panther’ prefers dry environments. Providing extra humidity or misting your plant allows water to linger on leaves, which can create the perfect environment for harmful types of fungi. Immediate vet attention required if your cat ingests the plant. Keep plants elevated or use deterrents to protect curious felines.
