String of Pearls Care

In this article, I have shared the special points that plants will grow quickly if they get the necessary things.

Light

This plant prefers direct and indirect light, totaling between six and eight hours a day. In case your place doesn’t have enough light for your String of Pearls, then consider putting them 6 – 12 inches.

These succulent beauties crave light like a cat craves a warm lap but wilt under the harsh gaze of the midday sun. They can handle a bit of direct sunlight, especially in the morning, but too much light leaves turning yellow and crispy.

Water

String of Pearls are sensitive to watering so don’t water them too frequently, and allow the soil to completely dry out between each water. They handle being too dry far better than too wet.

When you do water, give your Pearls a really good drench until water runs out the bottom, then let it fully drip dry.String of Pearls don’t require heavy feeding.Once every two to three weeks is usually enough during spring and summer, and less during winter.

Propagating string of pearls in water will be more effective during the rooting process. It is a drought-resistant plant and is prone to over-watering and root rot.

Soil

This plant best choice is a cactus potting mix. Alternatively, you can use a 3-to-1 mixture of potting soil to sharp sand.Combine two parts commercial potting mix with the perlite and sand.

This concoction will mimic the String of Turtles’ natural habitat, making your plant feel right at home. It thrive in well-drained cacti potting mixes.

Although they appreciate decent fertility, the plants can become straggly-looking if the mix is overly rich. Any regular succulent potting soil is acceptable for your string of pearls plants, but sandy soil is best.

Temperature & humidity

String of Pearls succulent should be kept at average indoor temperature of 70° – 80° Fahrenheit.Don’t keep them in drafty areas, or areas with air conditioner and open window as cold air may causes the leaves to drop.

It will tolerate temperatures as low as 50°F, but to encourage flowers in spring, keep it at a temperature of between 55-60°f in winter. Pearl’s don’t much like to feel the wind and the path of draughts air conditioning.

Some plants enjoy high humidity, however, succulents are not among those plants. It does not require a lot of humidity to thrive.

In fact, this succulent is native to dry areas, so dry air wouldn’t do any harm to it. A charming succulent, thrives in a humidity range of about 40-60%

Succulents are typically desert plants that store water in their leaves and cannot absorb water through them.

Fertilizer

The string of pearls acquires natural nutrition from the soil and is replenished with micro and macronutrients. You can use a balanced, water-soluble natural fertilizer (NPK) with an equal amount of about 5-10-5

It can be purchased at most retail nurseries and garden centers. At the beginning of Winter, sprinkle Scotts Osmocote Controlled Release Fertiliser for Cacti & Succulents onto the surface of the soil.

Fertilise String of Pearls with Scotts Osmocote Pour+Feed for Cacti & Succulents every two weeks in spring, summer and autumn.
